📜 Description
Antique botanical print created by Nicolas François Regnault between 1774 and 1780, published in Paris by Didot le Jeune and dedicated to “L’Euphorbe – Euphorbis officinarum – Euforbio”. The plate depicts a single specimen of euphorbia, vertically arranged at the center of the sheet, with a ribbed and spiny columnar stem, accompanied by small analytical details illustrating flowers, seeds, and structural parts of the plant. The composition serves a scientific and didactic function, typical of 18th-century botanical illustration, and integrates inscriptions with French, Latin, and Italian denominations to support accurate identification of the species. The work is executed in etching, with drawing and engraving attributed to Geneviève De Nangis-Regnault within the editorial context of “La Botanique”.
