📜 Description
Important hand-modeled and hand-painted maiolica centerpiece, characterized by a complex structure and a pronounced sculptural presence. The elongated and slightly rounded body rests on shaped feet and is defined by a dynamic profile, culminating on either side in two stylized reptile-shaped handles, rendered with a controlled yet lively expressiveness.

The surface is entirely covered with a white glaze, over which a polychrome floral decoration unfolds, organized into regular reserves along the central body and interspersed with stylized vegetal elements. Subtle tonal variations emphasize the sculptural elements, enhancing the relief and contributing to the overall dynamism of the composition.

The piece represents a quality production in which plastic form and decorative scheme are closely integrated, resulting in an object conceived for display contexts, with a well-balanced visual presence.

📚 Art Historical Note
The Antonibon manufacture of Nove was one of the principal centers of Venetian maiolica production between the 17th and 19th centuries, distinguished by the quality of its forms and the richness of its decorative repertoire. During the 19th century, production incorporated eclectic influences, reinterpreting Baroque and Rocaille motifs alongside fantastical and zoomorphic elements.

The present example, associated with this context, reflects such tendencies, particularly in the sculptural treatment of the reptile-shaped handles and in the organization of the polychrome floral decoration, consistent with patterns found in Nove production.
